 Blog 1: Group Presentations

During our first week had three different presentations that discussed various topics based on the 2013 Edition iSpeak book. My group and I were the second group to present, we were in charge of chapters 5-9. I believe that our speech and PowerPoint were very well written and said. Our presentation was very informative and even though we worked on it together, I got to learn a lot more about how to deliver a speech, such as the do’s and don’t’s. From reading this book, I learned how to make a speech sound authentic and interesting. Some of my group members spoke about how to make sure that when someone speaks, they don't sound too blunt or to proper. Having the appropriate attitude when speaking is also something important that I learned. I also learned how to attend to certain people's needs. Knowing that many people have sensory needs and that there are ways to assist them in understanding and enjoying any speech and/or presentation.

I believe that our group was well prepared and also seemed to be knowledgeable about their topics. There were some hiccups along the way, one being that we started presenting late and the other was that we had a group member who was feeling ill, yet she still presented wonderfully. The videos that we chose weren’t too long. We chose small yet detailed videos to better explain to our class. We decided on this together because we wanted to make sure that everyone else understood what we were talking about. We had to present on two separate days because, on the first day, my group had only half an hour to begin presenting. On the second day of our presentation, we started with me and we continued to the very end. I think that my group delivered their topics amazingly. During our little group meetings, everyone was very reassuring and everyone input their two cents on how the presentation should go and how it should flow just so that it wouldn't be repetitive and that it was clear.

I would speak on how the first group presentation did, however, I, unfortunately, missed that presentation. The very third group presentation was very good in my own opinion. The last group seemed very prepared as well. They all seemed to have been knowledgeable in their topics. The presentation wasn’t too long or was it too short. The videos that they showed as well were very detailed and weren’t too long. Watching a presentation that really grasps the audience’s attention. Overall, the last group presentation was very informative and well written and presented.
